Call forwarding to your new voicemail number (provided by the OnSilent team) allows the OnSilent software to process your voicemails and – amongst other things – send you automatic notifications, create your voicemail summaries & transcriptions, generate reply suggestions, etc. It’s very easy to set up and only takes a few seconds.
Here’s how to get the OnSilent software up and running
Once you’ve selected a plan and completed the sign up process you will receive an email from us that will give you detailed instructions on how to set things up on your phone. The instructions you’ll receive are tailored to your account and the easiest way to be up and running in seconds.
The guide below is a generic tutorial on how to set things up and useful to give you an idea of our process or in case your setup requires you to look at how things work in a little more detail.
All it takes is to dial a specific number on your phone (see below) and see the confirmation message that is then displayed by your device.
1. Dial *004*[Your OnSilent voicemail number]#.
2. You’ll see a success message on your screen once completed.
3. The OnSilent software is now ready to handle your missed calls!
For example, if your OnSilent voicemail number is 0812 345 678 you will be dialling *004*0812345678#
Change your ring time
To change ring time before diversion to voicemail:
The overall dial syntax is:
**61*[Your OnSilent voicemail number]**[number of seconds]#
The number of seconds before forwarding can only be between 5 and 30 seconds, with increments of 5 seconds. Enter double digits like this: 05, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. So for example to set a 10 seconds time dial and if your OnSilent number is 0812 345 678 you will be dialling: **61*0812345678**10#
After dialling a confirmation message should be shown on your screen telling you if the setup was successful.
Reset to default
If you need to reset your voicemail back to its default settings:
1. Simply dial ##004# and it will reset with a message to confirm.
2. Check your voicemail settings to ensure your voicemail is reconnected correctly.
Troubleshooting your call forwarding setup
The most common reason for call forwarding issues is due to your mobile carrier.
We suggest taking the two following actions:
- Try a carrier-specific code (see here for Telstra or here for Optus).
- If all the above has not worked – contact your carrier and ask them to enable Conditional Call Forwarding on your account.
Turn off existing unconditional call forwarding
If you run into difficulties it may be that there is already an unconditional call forwarding settings active on your device. In order to make sure your phone doesn’t already have an unconditional call forwarding service activated follow the steps below:
For iPhone users:
– Go to your settings app
– Click phone
– Find call forwarding. Toggle this off.
Alternatively, if you previously set up call forwarding, dial ##004# to reset to default settings. You should see a message to confirm.
For Android users:
– In the Settings menu look for Call Forwarding or Supplementary Services.
– Disable Call Forwarding or Always Forwarding. You’ll see a success message confirming call forwarding has been erased.
